Where are we going?

The Windward Islands have a big variety of exiting places and activities to offer and reflect the Caribbean in all respects: Rain forests, dream beaches, reefs and historic places.

We will be anchoring in bays very often and profiting from snorkeling and the beaches very often.

Almost daily we will sail to a new island, sometimes a shorter, sometimes a longer distance.

The following route is a suggestion that we will adapt depending upon the wind+weather situation. Cabin charter yachts will usually follow this route. Private charters are free to define their own routes.

  1. day: Boarding around noon, provisioning, overnight in the marina.
  2. day: First sail to the north and overnight in one of Martinique's bays
  3. day: Long upwind leg to Dominica
  4. day: Short sail and the possibility to go on an excursion in Dominica - True Caribbean.
  5. day: Up goes the Gennaker - full speed. It's about 100nm to St. Lucia
  6. day: More Gennaker sailing to Union Island, one of the southernmost islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines
  7. day: The magnificent horseshoe-reef of the Tobago Cays Marine Parks is up next. Fish and Lobster BBQ ashore?
  8. day: A full day in the Tobago Cays Marine Park with relaxing, swimming with the turtles, scuba diving, snorkeling, enjoying the turquoise waters, beaches and palm trees.
  9. day: A short sail will get us to one of the next Grenadines-Islands Mayreau, Canouan or Bequia
  10. day: The whaler island Bequia is our next stop. Plenty of bars and restaurants. Scuba diving possibility.
  11. day: We follow the coast of St. Vincent to one of the bays with volcano and rainforest surrounding
  12. day: The last night outside port we'll anchor in front of the legendary bar "Jambe de Bois" (peg leg) on Pidgeon Island/St. Lucia

Good to know ...

Our trip will start in the marina of "Le Marin" in the south part of Martinique. You should arrive there on the boarding day not later that noon. To take it even more relaxed arrive the night before.

The airport code of "Aéroport Martinique Aimé Césaire" is "FDF". FDF is served from Europe mainly by Air France via Paris .

We have set up special conditions wit the Skyteam-Group (Air France, KLM) which you can book here:

http://globalmeetings.airfranceklm.com/Search/promoDefault.aspx?vendor=AFR&promocode=32585AF

Your travel agent can also book these rates for you via the following Air France/KLM Event ID: 32585AF

All other expenses for the ship and aboard are shared in equal parts through a so called common "cruising kitty".
Please keep in mind that you will be covering the cruising kitty's share of our skipper as well!

Our experience is that you will need around 35 Euro/day/person which will be covering:

  • Harbour fees
  • Immigration and fees for cruising permits, customs, immigration, marine parks
  • additional insurances
  • Navigation material
  • Fuel
  • Food aboard
  • Drinks aboard
  • Others

ALL OTHER EXPENSES
All other expenses ashore as personal expenses related to travel, dinner in restaurants, going out are covered by each participant separately.

Our approach is: Less is more! - You usually need far less than you pack.

Please do not bring hard cased bags or suitcases as there is little stowage room aboard. Duffel bags or any other type of soft bags are most convenient.

You need some good sailing gear? – Ask us!

There is excellent snorkeling and Scuba diving in many islands. Give the snorkeling a third dimension and try Scuba.

Dive companies are available and they take you to the best spots.

If you have a scuba certification bring it along with you, if you don't, do not worry. A so called DSD (discover scuba diving) course will get you some training and a dive up to safe 10m depth with a diveguide in a single day!

We usually don't carry dive equipment aboard the sailing yachts, but it can be arranged for you. Please email us.

High probability for a constantly sunny and windy weather:

  • Winds force 4-5
  • Sun
  • Sun
  • Sun
  • 28°C water temperature
